Garry DeBrabander and Jennifer Bates-DeBrabander, the newest members of Herbalife's Chairman's Club, know what it's like to struggle to make ends meet. So, from their "little shack," a house that literally couldn't fit more than a half-dozen people at a time, the DeBrabanders dreamed of something better for themselves and their children. And, when Garry answered a newspaper ad for the Herbalife opportunity back in 1985, they began a journey to make their dreams a reality.

"We really wanted to give our kids a good education." Garry and Jennifer, who were both single parents when they married each other, wanted the best for their children. "That was our initial motivation to find an opportunity for financial independence," Garry explains. A bar manager for 10 years, Garry remembers just how difficult things were financially for the family. "I'd walk my daughter to the babysitter before work because I couldn't spare the bus fare," he recalls.

As for their living conditions, things were tight in the DeBrabander home-literally. "If we wanted to have four people over for dinner," Garry muses, "one of them had to sit outside."

"After trying the products, I knew the Herbalife opportunity was for us." Before discovering Herbalife, Garry also had serious health issues. So when Jennifer realised that the business ad Garry answered was for Herbalife, she was thrilled, because she had always been a believer in natural products. "Jennifer knew right from the start that Herbalife would work for me," Garry remembers. "Try them,' she said. 'You'll see.'"

Jennifer was right. "By the fourth day on the products," Garry recalls with excitement, "my energy was up-way up! People started noticing and asking me what I was doing. At that point, I knew what Jennifer had realised immediately-we had found the answer to our health and our dreams."

'There was this great house not far from where we lived, called Eagle's Nest," Just a couple of years earlier, neither Garry nor Jennifer would have dreamed they'd ever live in such a home. "Within two years of starting our Herbalife business," Garry explains, "we owned Eagle's Nest." Shortly afterwards, we were able to buy Jennifer's mother a home of her own, and now we live in the beautiful Gold Coast, in the next home we bought." Garry and Jennifer own many properties and are about to build their Dream Home.

"We're so thankful to be able to give our kids the best." "When she was just a little girl," Garry recalls, "I used to worry about being able to give my daughter Lynnette the things she'd want in life." But, thanks to their success with Herbalife, that's no longer a concern for either Garry or Jennifer. "When Lynnette and Drew got their driver's licenses, it was fun and exciting to allow them to drive our Rolls Royce."
